Cement consumers have urged the Monopoly Control Authority to take speedy action against cement companies for keeping prices of cement high in spite of government warnings to bring them down.
Many consumers, individuals and companies said inaction by the government over the past three months has helped cement companies and their dealers make millions of rupees outside the tenet by charging excess 'on-money' on the supply of cement to users.
They welcomed probe by the MCA into practices of cement companies and hoped it would be speedy and forceful. They welcomed the announcement that the Monopoly Control Authority is investigating the matter with a view to issue show-cause notices to the cement companies.
