Peace expedition

05 Sep, 2005

Pakistani and French mountaineers have organised a symbolic peace expedition to promote harmony among different communities in Northern Areas. They have chosen Diran peak (7255m) in Nagar Gilgit as their destination while promoting tourism and improving relations among communities in the areas.
Addressing a press conference, leader of the five-member team Francois Carrel said the peace mission is an effort to unify and amalgamate different communities of Northern Areas.
He added conflicts between communities threaten not only the peace and security of the country but also impede the way to progress. Economic and social development can take root only where peace and harmony have been established.
The expedition comprises Mothiar Vigier, Javaid Ali, Jan Alam and Claire Enilie.
