'Business-wise sales tax returns to benefit traders'

06 Sep, 2005

Manufacturers engaged in selling of their products at the retail outlets would benefit from CBR facility for separately filing of sales tax return for each business activity.
Official sources told Business Recorder on Monday that a large number of businessmen would be able to benefit from Sales Tax Circular No 2 of 2005 for filing separate returns by registered persons simultaneously in different business activities.
They said that there are many manufacturers, exporters, importers, retailers and wholesalers who are engaged in conducting combined business activity. The facility of filing separate returns would help all those manufacturers also working as exporters; manufacturers having retail outlets and importers doing other businesses. In some cases, one category of taxpayers is engaged in more than 2-3 business activities. This facility will also facilitate such taxpayers as well.
Particularly, it will facilitate a large number of retailers in this regard. There are certain textile units, which simultaneously sell their garments and other products at the retail outlets. This category of taxpayers could also file separate sales tax returns as per new circular, they added.
