The opposition in National Assembly Monday accused the government of misleading the House on Kasuri-Shalom meeting. The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal member Liaquat Baloch on a point of order said that Palestinian leadership had denied they had asked Pakistan to contact Israeli leadership.
"The viewpoint of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and the Foreign Office do not match with the explanation given by Palestinian leaders on the foreign ministers' meeting in Istanbul," he said.
He said that Palestinians had made it clear that such contacts would be tantamount to moving against the aspirations of Palestine cause. He demanded an explanation from the government on the two contrasting views on the matter. However, no one from the treasury rose to say anything. The opposition has filed privilege motions on the issue.
About the latest increase in prices of petroleum products, Liaquat said that these time to time increases were compounding the masses' financial woes.
