The capital development authority (CDA) has demolished more than 500 huts in sector I-11 after repatriation of about 13,000 Afghan refugees. Sources in CDA told Business Recorder that CDA enforcement directorate is engaged in clearing the area of I-11 sector, where Afghan refugees were residing for about two decades.
It is learnt that about 60 CDA workers with four bulldozers are working at the site to rehabilitate the sector. However, these sources predicted that the repatriation programme was unlikely to be completed by deadline due to poor transport facilities.
It is learnt that majority of the refugees are willing to leave voluntarily and there is no significant reaction from their side. These sources further said that more than 500 rooms have been demolished by the authority.
