Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said here on Wednesday the government, while laying special emphasis on principles of good governance, has allocated additional funds for poverty alleviation.
He stated this during a meeting with Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Hauhiko Kuroda here on Wednesday. PM's Advisor on Finance Salman Shah was also present on the occasion.
The chief minister told the ADB president that local bodies polls had proven to be much effective in solving problems of the masses. Health and education sector programmes had been initiated in the province and funds allocated have been transferred to districts in that sequence, he pointed.
He said that Punjab Education Sector Reforms Programme had taken the position of role model, adding that doctors have been allowed to private practice in the evening in Rural Health Centers.
Haruhiko Kuroda told the chief minister of ADB's firm commitment to various development projects in the province. Finance and Taxation Principal Secretary Salman Siddique gave a briefing on the occasion.
