Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Friday had a telephonic conversation with his Malaysian counterpart Data Seen Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and briefed him on the meeting between the foreign ministers of Pakistan and Israel in Istanbul.
Prime Minister Badawi is the current chairman of the organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC). Giving details of the contact in Istanbul, the Prime Minister made it clear there has been no change in Pakistan's principled position on the Palestinian issue, which called for the establishment of a Palestinian State with Al-Quds as its capital and which fully accedes with the OIC position.
The Prime Minister underlined the initiative taken after Israel had vacated Gaza was only meant to encourage Israel to resolve the Middle East problem, a foreign office statement said.
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz also discussed with the Malaysian Prime Minister ways and means to strengthen OIC. Both the leaders agreed that the restructuring of OIC was essential to promote the causes of Islamic world.
