Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Canada-Pakistan Technology Business Forum have decided to make joint efforts to enhance liaison and co-operation between the trade communities of Pakistan and Canada in the fields of export, import, investment, transfer of technology and other business-related activities.
This was decided in a meeting between LCCI President Misbahur Rehman and President of Canada-Pakistan Technology Business Forum (CPTBF) Iqbal Imam here on Saturday. LCCI Senior Vice President Sohail Lashari and Vice President CPTBF Rehmatullah Javed also attended the meeting, among others.
Iqbal, briefing the participants of the meeting about business opportunities in Canada, said it was high time for Pakistan''s entrepreneurs to join hands with their Canadian counterparts. He said that the Forum was planning to arrange a Trade Show in 2006 in Canada, which would be a golden opportunity for Pakistan''s exporters.
LCCI President Misbahur Rehman said that both organisations would exchange all trade-related information and would ensure dissemination of the same to all businessmen. He said that both organisations would take sector-specific solid measures to promote trade between Pakistan and Canada. In the face of global challenges only those organisations would survive which would have proper co-ordination with other like-minded organisations, he said.
He urged Canadian businessmen to establish and promote economic relations with Pakistan on preferential basis. He said that many potential sectors, including information technology, tourism, telecommunication, banking, insurance and light engineering food processing, had vast opportunities for joint ventures and investment.
Rehmatullah Javed said that Canada-Pakistan Technology Business Forum would soon sign MoUs with other chambers of the country, as the sole purpose of the agreement is promotion of trade and transfer of trade-related technology between Pakistan and Canada.
Canada-Pakistan Business and Technology Forum (CPTBF) was formed during the international conference on Canada''s role in the sustainable Development of Asian and African Countries held in Toronto recently.
