Pak-UK extradition treaty in final stages

11 Sep, 2005

The UK and Pakistan were "in the final stages" of negotiating their first extradition treaty, a British Home Office spokesman has been quoted by a British daily as saying here on Saturday.
Discussions began a year ago and have included human rights issues, the spokesman was quoted as saying by one of the leading British dailies 'The Guardian' here on Saturday.
"This work is in the final stages but we do not have a date yet for when the treaty will be signed.
Under the proposed treaty, alleged terrorism would be an extraditable offence," the spokesman was quoted as saying.
