The city received 80 MGD less water on Saturday due to disruption of power supply to KW&SB Dhabaji, Gharo and Pipri pumping stations. According to a spokesman for KW&SB, the disruption of water supply affected whole of the city and particularly Landhi, Korangi, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Defence Housing Authority and its adjoining areas.
However, the localities getting water supply through Hub source, including Cramp Towns Site Towns, Baldia Town and their adjoining areas remained unaffected.
The spokesman also said that the power supply to these three pumping stations were disrupted at 0810 hrs on Saturday and restored same day at 1145 hrs of Dhabaji and of Gharo at 1250 hrs and Pipri at 1310 hrs.
He said the outage of power supply and affected sewage pumping station as a result in some parts of the city sewerage system also did not work for sometime.
Meanwhile, the spokesman has appealed to the general public not to remove the cover of manholes during overflow o waters because rain nullahs are constructed to drain out rain water.
