Pakistan People's Party Bahawalpur President, Mian Mumtaz Ahmad Matiana MNA has resigned from his seat of National Assembly and joined PML and expressed his complete confidence in the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.
He made this announcement during a meeting held with the Chief Minister here on Saturday, which was attended by prominent political personalities and assembly members.
Pervaiz Elahi said that with the joining of Mian Mumtaz Ahmad Matiana in the Muslim League, it has gained further strength and his decision would also help in accelerating the development process in the area. He said that they have worked together on the platform of Pakistan Muslim League in 1985 and he wholeheartedly welcomes him in the PML.
"Resignation of Mian Mumtaz Ahmad Matiana from National Assembly seat reflects his democratic attitude," he added.
In the meeting, PML-supported candidate for District Nazim Bahawalnagar Ali Akbar Wains said that he was thankful to Chief Minister for his support as District Nazim but he announces his withdrawal in favour of Mian Mumtaz Ahmad Matiana for the unity and strengthening of party.
Mian Mumtaz Ahmad Matiana said that he has decided to join Muslim League in the larger interest of masses and for the continuity of development process in the area. He said that development projects being implemented in the province, especially in the Southern Punjab under the leadership of the Chieff Minister were unprecedented.
