Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has released a special grand of Rs 50 million for a water supply project to overcome water shortage in Cantonment areas of Rawalpindi.
This was stated by Haji Raja Mushtaq Ahmed while addressing a meeting at Dhoke Chaudhrian arranged by Raja Zahid Mehmood Bhatti. It was also attended by Raja Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Chairman PML-Q, Chaudhry Sher Afgan, General Secretary Haji Muhammad Aslam, Sheikh Qadir Ahmed, Haji Muhammad Ashraf, Haji Muhammad Rafiq, Muhammad Nazar, Dr Muhammad Saeed, Umar Farooq, Muhammad Nisar Khan Mahmand, and others.
He appreciated the people's friendly policies of the present government and said the Punjab chief minister has granted Rs 50 million for establishing a network of water supply in Cantonment areas of Rawalpindi.
He said that water from Khanpur dam will be provided to Dhoke Chaudhrian, Afshan Colony, Hazara, Muhammadi Colony and Misriyal road, while filtration plants will also be established in these areas.
He said that work on laying of pipelines have also been started which will resolve the long-standing water problem for the people of Cantonment areas.
Participants of the meeting who spoke on the occasion also appealed to the Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, Provincial Law Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja that despite releasing of the grant several other areas are still deprived of this basic necessity.
