The rupee on Monday did not move sharply versus the dollar in the interbank market for buying and selling at 59.74 and 59.75, dealers said. Demand for dollar was high but smooth supply of dollar save the rupee from drifting sharply lower, they said.
In the world markets, the dollar gained modestly versus the major currencies, reports said.
The rupee gained 30 paisa against the euro for buying at Rs 73.60 and posted fresh gain of 40 paisa at Rs 73.70 in low business, they said.
