Malaysian shares lower

Malaysian shares price closed 0.11 percent lower Wednesday in the absence of positive leads following losses overnight on Wall Street, dealers said. The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index lost 0.98 points at 914.74. Volume was 458.43 million shares worth 619.36 million ringgit (164 million dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers 361 to 304.
The ringgit held steady at 3.7695 to the US dollar. "Trading was relatively quiet as investors stayed on the sidelines. The market will continue its rangebound pattern until a new lead emerges," a local brokerage dealer said.
Among blue chips, Tenaga Nasional was up 0.10 ringgit at 10.70, Telekom Malaysia was unchanged at 10.20 and Malayan Banking lost 0.10 to 11.40.
