Malaysian shares prices closed 0.54 percent higher on Thursday as local funds bought up market heavyweights, dealers said. The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index gained 4.91 points at 919.65 on volume of 584.39 mln shares worth 650.54 mln ringgit (173 million dollars). Gainers led losers 475 to 261.
Among blue chips, Tenaga Nasional was up 0.20 ringgit at 10.90, Telekom Malaysia added 0.30 to 10.50 while Malayan Banking gained 0.10 to 11.50.
