17 Sep, 2005

Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB) will start repair work on 48-inch dia water pipeline in Azam Nagar of Liaquatabad from September 21 to be completed in three days.
As a result, the water supply will remain suspended for 60 hours in some areas including Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, Old Golimar, Raxer Line, some parts of Site, Pak Colony, Shershah, PAF Base Masroor, Kannup, Mauripur, Gulbai and Baldia Pump House, said a statement of KW&SB issued here on Friday.
The supply of water will be completely restored in the above areas by Friday next.
The spokesman of KW&SB said that before the said suspension of water it would be ensured that water be supplied to these areas more than its quota so that people might store sufficient water for usage during waterless days.
He has advised the residents of said areas to store enough water so that they might not face hardship during three days from September 21 to 23 during which repair work would be performed.
"Water in huge quantity is being wasted due to leakage in the main water supply line caused by a number of constructions carried out in Azam Nagar," said the spokesman. However, he said after completion of the work abundant water would be saved for supply to the people of those areas.
