Advisor to Finance Ministry, Dr Ashfaq Hassan on Thursday said that government was taking steps to improve tax collection to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) ratio.
Talking to private TV channel, he said during last couple of years revenue collection through taxes has increased due to reforms introduced by the government in the Central Board of Revenue (CBR).
However, he added it was reality that tax to GDP ratio has decreased.
The Advisor said reason of tax to GDP ratio decrease was high GDP growth rate during last couple of years due to polices and reforms announced by the government. To a question he said it was international practice that revenue collection does not increase during implementation of reforms in any sector.
