A sub-committee of textile industry ministry and other stakeholders on Saturday agreed to pass on the premium, on production of clean cotton, to growers. The sub-committee held a meeting here with Aptma, KCA, PCGA, growers and provincial agriculture departments of Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan.
"Major issues relating to production of standardised and clean cotton were extensively discussed in the meeting," a statement from ministry of textile industry said.
The five-hour meeting developed a consensus on possible institutional mechanism that would ensure passing on the premium on the production of clean and standardised cotton, to the grower, it said, adding that the proposal firmed up in Saturday meeting would be submitted to minister's committee, which has the final say on it.
