Acting President Mohammadmian Soomro has said that quality in products and services is the key to success in today's challenging and competitive world.
He was addressing the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP) Convocation 2005, organised by Karachi Branch Council (KBC) of the Institute here on Saturday.
Soomro said that quality was an important factor in marketing the products and services, especially in the world of today, "which is shrinking and has assumed the shape of a global village".
He said: "Any service, or product, devoid of quality will lose its competitiveness and all the practices in this regard would be futile."
The Acting President described level of skills, cost-effectiveness of products and services and exploration of markets beyond geographical boundaries vital to survive in present competitive times.
He called upon the students to be ready for coming challenges, and added that they should interact more and more and lay emphasis more on the research.
Soomro suggested to the students to be more technology-friendly by keeping themselves updated with the rapid changes in this area.
Above all, he exhorted the students to be good human beings and should take care of ethics. "You should strive to trickle down the blessings, which Allah has bestowed to you", he asked the students.
He said that talented graduates have a significant role towards shaping the future of the country's economy and urged them to acquire excellence and maintain the standards.
Commending the performance of the Institute, he said that there was tremendous amount of competition in the field of higher education. "However, this institution has met challenges and passed with honour."
He said that growth and progress of ICMAP and its products are a testimony of the commitment and hard work of its team.
The Acting President conferred degrees on the graduating students.
M Shoaib Gold Medal was conferred upon Rashid Arshad. Bilmoria Gold Medal was given to Mazhar Aziz, who also got the D R Patten Gold Medal. Khurram Shams was also awarded gold medal.
KBC Chairman Javed Mansha spoke about the quality of education the Institute is imparting in the field of cost and management accountancy.
