Chairing two high-level briefings here at Wapda House on Saturday, Minister of State for Water and Power Engr. Amir Muqam said that practical work on over a billion rupees electricity projects for the NWFP and Rs 500 million water supply schemes for Peshawar would be undertaken in two months period.
The first briefing pertained to performance and initiatives taken by the new management of the Tribal Areas Electricity Supply Company (Tesco) with regard to installing meters and recovery from the tribal consumers.
Tesco chief executive Engr. Said Khan briefed the state minister about the new proposals being mulled over to bring the tribal electricity consumers in the billing net.
Amir Muqam gave a deadline of December 31, 2005 for completion of all the schemes under Tameer-e-Pakistan Programme and projects highlighted under President and Prime Minister's directives in the province and Peshawar district.
He also instructed the Tesco authorities to operationalise Ghallanai Grid Station in Mohmand Agency in a month's time besides accelerating pace of meterisation, recovery of electricity arrears and billing from tribal consumers.
The state minister said that Tesco was losing Rs 900 million every month in tribal areas while the flow of electricity there was also not up to the mark and usually load management was carried out for hours.
