Gulberg Police have registered a case against eight employees of the National Logistic Cell for torturing a press photographer Asad Ullah, keeping him in illegal confinement and threatening him with dire consequences, besides snatching his camera.
According to reports, Asad Ullah, press photographer of a local Urdu daily Express, tried to capture pictures of the NLC personnel when they were beating up a motorist for crossing the under-construction road outside Chiniot Bazar. The NLC personnel overpowered Asad Ullah and took him to a camp office nearby where they thrashed and abused him and snatched his camera. After a strong protest of media men, the Police Officers reached on the spot for to control the situation.
Later, Gulberg Police registered a case under section 148, 149, 342, 506 and 356, however, no arrest has been made.
