CDA may approve Rs 10.95 billion uplift projects today

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is likely to approve 11 development projects, worth Rs 10.95 billion, in its Development Working Party meeting on Wednesday.
The meeting would be chaired by CDA Chairman Kamran Lashari, apart from the CDA high ups, representatives from planning commission, interior and finance ministries would also attend the meeting.
Construction of 7th Avenue, from Khayabane-e-Suhrwardy to Khayabane-e-Iqbal and construction of 9th Avenue from IJP Road to Khayaban-e-Iqbal, dualization of road from Khanna Bridge to Tramari Chowk, development and upgradation of Margalla Town, development of Fatima Jinnah Park, development of sector I-8, improvement in light network & light level at various locations in Islamabad and construction of flyover on Jinnah Avenue at the intersection of 7th Avenue Islamabad are the major projects whose PC-1s have been finalised.
Sources said that the Authority would spend Rs 44.106 million on procurement of office equipment and allied facilities for project management office and establishment of Data Centre for provision of e-service at the Authority.
They said that the aim of this project is to identify potential investors and partners through a transparent process; co-ordinating development of project proposals and monitoring project proposal process and evaluation.
It is learnt that for provision of e-services is the responsibility of CDA to establish a central data centre, technical rooms in different office buildings of CDA and a training centre. The central data centre would house the main servers and related hardware. It will also be equipped with dual power supply and proper air conditioning and fire fighting system.
In its efforts to make Islamabad more bright, CDA would spend Rs 53.728 million for improvement in lights at various locations.
Under the project streetlight poles will be installed in sectors F-6, 7,9, H-8, 9 and G-9.
The project of flyover on Jinnah Avenue will cost Rs 323.278 million, to be completed in of one year.
Sources said that the project would remove the hurdles in the smooth flow of intra-city traffic and VIP movements.
The design of the fly-over has been prepared by a private company, Engineering Associates, of Karachi, and was approved by Planning Commission.
The final design includes flyover at Jinnah Avenue and underpass on 7th Avenue with turning traffic control by signals.
