Relief Commissioner Punjab, Safdar Javed Syed, has directed the District Co-ordination Officers and Executive District Officers (Revenue) in the flood hit districts, to conduct a survey to assess damage to houses in their respective districts and submit a report so that the villagers might be recompensed with.
He issued these directions while presiding over a high level meeting of the Punjab Relief Committee, here on Wednesday.
Among others, Director General Relief, Irfan Elahi, Additional Secretary Communication Ahmad Kamal, Chief Meteorologist, Shaukat Ali Awan, senior officers of Irrigation, Agriculture, Wapda and representatives of other departments also attended the meeting.
Safdar Javed Syed maintained that joint survey of damaged crops had already been completed and on the basis of its report, more than 670 villages had already been declared as calamity hit. He directed that survey of damage or partial damage to houses in those districts be conducted and report be submitted at the earliest so that compensation might be given to the affected villagers for their early rehabilitation.
