Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) has declared Numberdar Mukhtar Abbas as unanimous candidate for the Potohar Town Nazim slot and all the components of the alliance have assured full support to Mukhtar in the election.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday the senior PPP leader Raja Arshad MPA announced that Mukhtar Abbas would be unanimous candidate for Potohar Town Nazim from the ARD. Other candidates Master Iftikhar of PML N, Major Muneer of MMA have announced the withdrawal of their nominations in favour of Mukhtar Abbas.
Raja Arshad told reporters that so far Mukhtar Abbas enjoys the support of 240 members of the Town Assembly and surely it would rise up to 350 in the house of 480 members. He rejected the claims of 300 votes made by former Tehsil Nazim and PML candidate for Potohar town Nazim Hamid Nawaz saying that they are living in fool's paradise. "They have not initiated any single development project in the area and are expecting votes. It is not possible", he added.
Numberdar Mukhtar Abbas while addressing the press conference said that more than 300 members have assured him full support while many from PML are contacting him to join him in this election.
Mukhtar Abbas introduced three UC Nazims belonging to PML and said that they have joined us and would completely support. "In coming days there are many jolts hidden for ruling party candidates".
He condemned the government moves to terrorise the political opponents and said that victimisation of opposition leaders is a highly condemnable move on part of government. "Raids on Chaudhry Tanveer residence and terrorising tactics of government are speaking about their frustration. Opposition's popularity caused hell for ruling alliance", he added.
