EDO (Edu) Ms Nasim Mansoor has said the Punjab government has announced its policy for primary and middle standard examinations.
Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday, the EDO (Edu) said that under the policy it was compulsory for government school students to appear in the primary and middle standard examinations to be held under the aegis of the education department.
In the private sector, only registered primary schools will have to send their Class V students for primary exams, and middle schools to send their Class VIII students to take their middle standard examinations to be conducted by the education department.
However, the primary and middle class students of registered private high and higher secondary schools are not bound to sit for their respective standard exams, it is optional for them to take the exams, she added.
The EDO said the government school students were exempted from examination fee, while the private school students were charged a fee of Rs 25 and Rs 50 per head for primary and middle standard examinations, respectively.
