Hamdard University declared 'Green Campus'

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan Wednesday declared Hamdard University a 'Green Campus' while inaugurating a newly constructed state-of-the-art Environmental Studies Centre here at the University's main campus.
Dr Ebad, on the occasion, announced Rs 05 million for further up-gradation of the centre.
The Governor said, with the opening of Environmental Studies Centre in the Faculty of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Hamdard University was now entering into one of the most attention-worthy multidimensional fields of environmental education and research. "I am pleased to see Shaheed Hakim Saeed's vision turning substantially into reality," he pointed out.
Ishratul Ebad hoped that the centre would undertake such projects that would be of significant value with regard to the overall conservation and protection of the environment for the coming generation.
The Chancellor of Hamdard University, Senator S.M Zafar in his address, while mentioning the disasters like Katrina and spread of diseases in Landhi said the significance of environmental research and forecasting could not be overemphasised.
He said the first ever Environmental Studies Centre established by a private institute would play a vital role in conducting research and supplementing the efforts of the Government to overcome the environmental problems.
He said, "we are trustees for the future generation with regard to conservation and protection of the environment on earth".
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Dr Iqbal Qureshi delivered the welcome address. Eminent scholar and researcher, Barrister Rashid Munir, Managing Director Hamdard Laboratories Dr Naveedul Zafar, Ex-VC Dr Manzoor Ahmed and other faculty deans and directors of the university were present.
