Visiting Vice-President of Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA), Ueda Yoshihisa has expressed hope that the technological assistance being provided by Japan would help accelerate the process of development in Pakistan's economy especially in the industrial sector.
"Sound industrial technology always accelerates the process of economic development in a country," he said during his visit to JICA-funded project for balancing and modernisation of workshop facilities at Pakistan Industrial Technical Assistance Centre (PITAC) here on Thursday.
Resident representative of JICA in Pakistan, Nobuyuki Yamura and Tokyo-based Team Director JICA, Iwakami Kenzo, accompanied him. Among others, Deputy Secretary Ministry of Industries, Production and Special Initiatives, Mehr Sher Muhammad, General Manager PITAC, Colonel (Retd) Syed Anwar Ali Pervez and Chief Advisor JICA at PITAC, Sasago Minoru were also present.
Expressing satisfaction over the pace of JICA-II project, Yoshihisa hoped that this project would be completed within stipulated time ie by September next year.
JICA official said that this project would go a long way in boosting Pakistan's economy in general and engineering sector in particular.
Earlier, GM PITAC, Syed Anwar Ali Pervez while giving presentation on the working of Technology Up gradation and Skill Development Company (TUSDEC) and PITAC, said that the up gradation of PITAC in terms of technology and human resources was in progress.
He also talked about the projects initiated by TUSDEC for the induction of state-of-the-art technology in the industrial sector with special reference to the plans for the establishment of CAD/CAM centres in different towns of the country and the gap analysis to be carried out by the company in sectors of surgical instruments, ceramics, gems and jewellery.
