Sindh governor hails setting up of PBA

Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad Khan has welcomed the establishment of Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) and congratulated Shakilur Rehman on his election as its Chairman. In a statement, he said the facilities given to media by the present government, led by President Pervez Musharraf, "find no parallel in the past".
He said the government would continue to extend all possible co-operation to bring electronic media in conformity with modern technologies.
Ibad expressed hope that PBA office-bearers, along with its members, would utilise all capabilities for elating the prestige and honour of Pakistan in the world and evolve better image of the country.
He said he was confident that Pakistan would achieve fast progress in future in the broadcasting sector.
The governor welcomed the association's desire to work for a civilised, progressive and balanced society and in having a code of conduct.
He assured of government's all-out co-operation to the association in this regard.
Meanwhile, the Association of Television Journalists Pakistan (ATJP) has hailed the formation of Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) consisting of the owners and representatives of television and radio channels.
This was announced in a statement of the ATJP issued here on Saturday.
