The Sales Tax House Karachi has made special arrangements for receiving summary of invoices giving details of purchases and sales to be submitted by the registered persons on 15th of every month.
Sources at the Sales Tax House said on Saturday that the authorities were expecting a turnout of 20,000 registered persons at the House every month to fulfil the legal requirements which is essential to claim sales tax refunds.
The Sales Tax House witnessed huge rush of taxpayers on September 15, who queued up on the receiving windows and counters to submit summary of invoices.
However, the authorities cleared the rush before noon by opening additional counters. Sources further said that special arrangements would be made by the House to receive the large number of registered persons and provide them shelter and cold water while they wait for their turn in long queues.
Meanwhile, the Sales Tax House has also laid down an effective system for expeditious filing of sales tax returns in the designated branches of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP). In all 120 branches of NBP including 30 in Karachi are designated to receive sales tax returns.
Under the new arrangements the NBP will gradually issue a computerised receipt to the taxpayers instead of issuing a copy of challan as receipt.
The sources, however, said that the new arrangements would take sometime to materialise, as the banks would require more computers and training of the staff.
