Shahzada Haroon Rashid, President, State Life Officers Federation (SLOF) has demanded immediate ouster of Chairman State Life Insurance Corporation (SLIC) saying that the non-professional attitude of SLIC chief has destroyed the corporation.
"The manifold increase in business of the corporation from Rs 930 million in 2000 to Rs 2.200 billion in 2005 is loudly speaking of the dedication and hard work of the officers. But there were 1,459 officers in 2000, which are reduced to just 1,025 this year", Haroon Rashid said while talking to reporters here on Saturday.
Criticising the policies of the Chairman SLIC, Kamal Afsar, he said that due to worst anti-employee policies of the chairman the officers are feeling unrest. "The officers always worked for the corporation with depth of their soul and played an effective role in its upbringing. But in return they were given nothing", he said adding that the government should give officers their due share.
He demanded promotions for the officers saying that the chairman is promoting just his blue eyed people while the professionals of the insurance business are being ignored. "This would damage the corporation as officers would not work hard in future", he added.
Under the agreement State Life was bound to revise pay structure and increase allowances of the employees. But after lapse of nine months no action was taken on the agreement, he said adding that the failure of fulfilment of the conditions of agreement speaks volumes about the callous attitude of the SLIC administration.
He said that the SLIC administration has sacked more than 1,600 officers and workers from the corporation during last four years. "Now when the profit of the corporation enhanced manifold there is no justification of downsizing. It is only a negative tactic of the management to threat the employees", he added.
Meanwhile, the SLOF has threatened to go indefinite strike after October 10, if their demands as per agreement signed between the federation and SLIC in December 2004 are not implemented. The SLIC management agreed during inking the agreement to fulfil all demands before September 10, this year, said a joint statement of SLOF Chairman, Shahzada Haroon Rashid, Secretary General Shakeel Qamar, Zonal President Dr Sajid here on Saturday.
The statement said that on September 26, general body meetings of the SLOF would be held at all zonal headquarters and all officers would tie black straps in protest, besides a preparation of protest memorandum which would be sent to Prime Minister, minister, secretary and federation.
