Ukraine, a leading grain exporter, has slashed seaport grain shipments by 28 percent to 487,430 tonnes in the first 20 days of September from 689,710 in the same period in August, analysts said on Monday.
ProAgro agriculture consultancy also said in a statement Ukraine exported 203,350 tonnes of feed barley, 127,690 tonnes of feed wheat, 127,070 tonnes of milling wheat, 12,500 tonnes of maize and 13,520 tonnes of peas and other cereals.
It also exported 333,610 tonnes of barley, 193,660 tonnes of feed wheat, 120,110 tonnes of milling wheat, 18,010 tonnes of maize and 12,880 tonnes of peas in the same August period.
"A fall in exports directed to southern Europe was the main reason for the decrease in shipments," its analysts said.
ProAgro said Ukraine exported 111,650 tonnes of barley to Saudi Arabia, 51,020 to Iran, 31,850 to Jordan, 7,180 to Morocco, 1,640 to Egypt in September 1-20.
The country exported 27,500 tonnes of feed wheat to Spain, 27,500 to Tunisia, 4,380 to Algeria, 8,710 to Libya and 59,610 to unspecified consumers.
Ukraine supplied 36,970 tonnes of milling wheat to Kenya, 36,490 to Peru, 23,160 to Israel, 6,120 to Algeria, 7,900 to Syria, 10,280 to Sudan and 6,170 tonnes of the commodity to unspecified importers.
ProAgro said about 576,000 tonnes of various grains should be exported in the coming days.
Ukraine's Farm Ministry said earlier this month the country had exported 2.8 million tonnes of grain so far in the 2005/06 July-June season.
