Eleven people were killed and 59 others injured on Monday when two buses overturned in Multan. According to details, devotees from Burewala and adjacent areas reached the Multan fort to visit shrines of Shah Rukn-e-Alam and Bahauddin Zakariya after attending the urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar at Shewan.
But the bus they were travelling in lost its brakes and fell into a ditch killing four passengers on the spot while injuring 36 others. One of them succumbed to injuries in hospital.
VOLUNTEERS AND RESCUE teams took passengers out of the bus. Those who killed included Ahmed Bakhsh and his son, Muhammad Saeed, Shamoon and Muhammad Ramzan. Their bodies were shifted to their native town for burial.
Earlier in the morning, another bus carrying devotees from the Mazar of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar crashed in the same area.
Three passengers died on the spot, while three of them expired in hospital. Twenty-three others were injured. At least 45 people were killed at the weekend in two separate bus collisions in Sindh.
