Political secretary to Sindh Chief Minister Abdul Ghaffar Qureshi has asked Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro to accept defeat of the Pakistan Peoples Party in the local body elections and acknowledge the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) as the sole representative of the people of Sindh.
In a statement on Monday Qureshi said that Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has taken the Muslim League from the drawing room of the elite to the doorsteps of ordinary men.
He said: "The PML (Q) is the only legitimate representative of the people of Pakistan and its supporters have rejected all other parties claiming popularity among the people of Pakistan."
He said: "Khuhro should now shun the politics of hatred and join hands with us and work for the welfare of the people without any discrimination." He said that Rahim toured every nook and corner of the province, contacted common men and brought them into the folds of the PML (Q). It was his hard work that brought success to the party, he added.
Qureshi said that 'there are no groups within the party and all tales of infighting are false.' "All members of the party are united under the leadership of Rahim and would continue to maintain the unity among them in the future," he added.
He said that none of the party workers has left 'us' and none would do so. He said that political parties, including the PPP, have not held elections in the past 20 years whereas the PML (Q) has remained glued to the principles of in-party discipline and in-party elections.
He said that Khuhro should look into his party affairs, his relationship with his Khuhro cousins and other in Larkana and try to realise the necessity of telling the truth to his party-men. "He should stop criticising Rahim," he added.
