Hurriyat (G) Chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani was not given access to the political prisoners detained in District Jail Ambphalla and Central Jail Kot Bhalwal.
Geelani's personal secretary Fiaz Malik told 'Kashmir Times', that Hurriyat leader Geelani accompanied by him were denied permissions by the jail authorities to meet political prisoners detained in the two jails.
He said, "Geelani reached at District Jail Ambphalla and sought entrance to meet political prisoners but a sentry at the main gate stopped us".
It was learnt that jail authorities after talking to DIG Prisons stopped Geelani to see the detainees and told him that a court order was required to meet prisoners.
Thereafter Geelani went to Central Jail at Kot Bhalwal to meet political detainees there but a Deputy Superintendent stopped him and asked for a court order.
Hurriyat deplored that political prisoners were being treated like criminals in these jails forcing them to live under inhumane conditions and to add to their woes jail authorities did not allow to meet them.
