Romania is planning to make big investments in Balochistan, particularly in Hub and other parts of Lasbela district. This was stated by Ionel Mantog, Deputy Minister for Economic and Commerce of Romania and leader of the Romanian delegation during a visit to Lasbela Chamber of Commerce & Industry on Friday.
He said that machinery and equipment for cement, textile, oil and gas and minerals is available in Romania at very low cost. The use of Romanian technology may reduce production cost of local industries, he added.
Welcoming the delegation members, Mohammad Sadiq Khan, senior vice-president of Lasbela Chamber, said that great potential existed for enhancing the volume of bilateral trade and investment between Pakistan and Romania. He briefed the delegation members about investment opportunities in Lasbela district, being gateway to the free port of Gawader, and invited them to make investment in the region.
Mohammad Saleem Kapadia stressed the use of modern technology available in Romania in excavation of minerals, particularly marble and granite, which would minimise the wastage and would ensure quality.
Khalid-ur-Rehman, Director, Lasbela Industrial Estates Development Authority (LIEDA), also briefed the delegation about the role of the Authority in facilitating industrial investment in Lasbela district.
Members representing cement, oil & gas, minerals, textile industry etc had one-to-one meetings with their counterparts in the delegation and discussed the possibilities of establishing joint ventures and procurement of machinery.
