Wapda earmarks Rs 1,462 million for employees' welfare

Chairman Wapda, Tariq Hamid has said that the management is making every effort for welfare of employees, as they were valuable assets for the organisation. He was speaking at the 22nd awards ceremony held to acknowledge the services of Wapda employees here on Thursday.
Tariq said that the Authority spent Rs 1394 million for providing specialised medical services to 150,000 Wapda employees and their families during the last year whereas an amount of Rs 1462 million has been earmarked for the purpose in the current fiscal year.
He congratulated the award winners and expressed the hope that the officers and workers would give their best for making Wapda an enviable organisation.
He urged the employees, particularly the field staff to make concerted efforts for reducing line losses and ensuring uninterrupted supply of electricity to the consumers. He called upon the officers and operational staff to promote customer-friendly culture by resolving electricity related problems thereby earning good name for the utility, and helps improve its image.
Earlier, Wapda chairman gave away merit certificates and cash awards to 42 officers and workers for showing outstanding performance in their respective areas of operation.
Among others, the members of the Authority, general managers and a host of officers and staff attended the ceremony.
