Norwegian puppets show

01 Oct, 2005

The Museum of Puppetry and Theatre will be hosting an exhibition on Monday (October 3) to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Norway, and to mark the event the museum will be showing the work of Riksteatret - the National Touring Theatre of Norway.
Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi would inaugurate the exhibition. The exhibition would continue till March 30, 2006.
Established since 1949, Riksteatret is committed to a philosophy that seeks to create theatre around popular culture. "The Norwegian Touring Theatre was renowned for the quality of its puppet theatre performances and they were immensely popular with the public.
This particular collection spans over 30-year period. The puppets assembled were a representative sample of work presented by their most outstanding designers. Each puppet has a personality and tells its own story. This was story telling with a Norwegian flavour, though the themes were universal," Tasneem added.
