01 Oct, 2005

Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade were higher at midsession on Friday following the release of bullish USDA stocks data and also from a strong rally in wheat futures, traders said.
CBOT corn was up 1/2 to 3 cents per bushel. December was up 3 at $2.06-1/2 per bushel.
ABN Amro bought 700 December and several other funds each bought roughly 200 lots of December, pit sources said.
The US Agriculture Department on Friday said there were 2.112 billion bushels of corn held by farmers and commercial firms on September 1, below an average of analysts' estimates for 2.161 billion and USDA's latest 2004/05 end stocks estimate of 2.125 billion.
