Foreign professors' involvement in HEC policies sought

Foreign professors, working in various varsities of Pakistan, have been advised to thoroughly review all programmes, initiatives and policies of the Higher Education Commission so as to bring them at par with the international norms, it is learnt here.
According to sources, the main purpose of the foreign faculty-hiring programme has been initiated to improve quality of teaching and research and to bring latest knowledge and expertise to Pakistan.
It has also been decided that the foreign faculty members would be more actively engaged in workshops, seminars, curricula development and supervision of M.phil, Phd students in addition to teaching assignments, said the sources.
The HEC so far has hired 95 faculty members from various foreign universities and research institutes under three programmes of varying duration from three months to one year extendable to five years.
All foreign professors are required to have minimum five-year post doctorate experience of working abroad in an academic or research institute of high repute must have publications in international journals in the last five years.
