Grams prices up ahead of Ramazan

Ahead of the month of Ramazan, rising demand pushed the prices up on the grain market on Saturday, dealers said. On the grams side, gram garda Punjab inferior type posted Rs 50 gain to Rs 1900 and good type also gained Rs 40 to Rs 1940 as shopkeepers turned to the wholesale market to meet the demand by the buyers during the Ramazan.
Garda Punjab dal both inferior and superior types rose by Rs 50 to Rs 2350-2400, they added. Market sources said that to minimise the general people's miseries, the government is continuously importing commodity items and expectedly the prices may not show sharp increase as the rates of food and the other essential items gone up due to soaring oil prices in the world markets.
