Prime Minister vows to upgrade Navy

The government will provide all necessary resources for the up-gradation and modernisation of Pakistan Navy as it plays a vital role in safeguarding the coastline and water territorial limits.
This was stated by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz while talking to the Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Shahid Karimullah who paid a farewell call on him here on Tuesday.
The Prime Minister commended the services of Shahid Karimullah for the country and the Pakistan Navy. He said that his contributions would be remembered long for making Pakistan Navy a vibrant force.
Shaukat Aziz said the induction of new frigates in Pakistan Navy would help increase its operational and fighting capabilities.
He emphasised the need to introduce the latest technology in Pakistan Navy to meet the challenges of the modern era warfare and added that government would provide all sufficient funds and resources to enhance the Pakistan Navy's subsurface, surface and aerial capabilities to enable it play its role effectively in maintaining peace in the region.
The Chief of Naval Staff thanked the Prime Minister for providing all necessary funds and assistance for equipping the Pakistan Navy with latest technology and weapons.
