The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has become a member of International Quality Assurance Agency in Higher Education (IQAA). Based in Dublin, the Agency has three categories of membership ie full member, associate member and intermediate member.
The agency determines the category to be given to a particular organisation on the basis of quality control measures adopted by it, announced HEC here on Wednesday.
The IQAA was established in 1991 with the main objective to collect and disseminate information on current and developing theory and practice in assessment, improvement and maintenance of quality in higher education.
It provides assistance to the members to determine the standards of higher education institutions operating across national borders. The IQAA in higher education also facilitates the development of new quality assurance agencies in the member countries and provides technical advice on the subject.
The membership of Agency is a sign of the recognition for the role of HEC in assuring and improving quality of knowledge being imparted in higher education institutions of the country.
By becoming a member, the HEC will become eligible to all kinds of available facilitation and technical support under the umbrella of IQAA. This membership will make tremendous difference in developing and assuring the procedures and processes of quality assurance in higher education sector of the country in the global context.
