Raw sugar prices settled lower Thursday on steady producer sales and the market could slip further on follow-through pressure tomorrow, brokers said.
The New York Board of Trade's key March raw sugar contract fell 0.18 cent to end at 11.26 cents a lb, moving from 11.20 to 11.46 cents. May lost the same to 11.27 cents. Back months declined 0.17 to 0.19 cent.
Volume traded before the close amounted to 37,122 lots, versus the previous tally of 49,281 contracts. Call volume hit 12,471 contracts and puts stood at 10,043 lots.
