Robbers gang leader held after encounter

Anti-Dacoity and Robbery Cell (ADRC), in an encounter, arrested an alleged robbers' gang leader with arms besides arresting an accused on charges of mobile snatching at gun point, said a statement of ADRC here on Friday.
The alleged gang leader is identified as Nadeem Shahryar alias Masoom Bengali.
According to the details, the police party of ADRC on an information carried out a raid in an area of Gulberg and arrested the alleged gang leader, who along with his four accomplices, was planning a robbery.
The arrest was followed by an exchange of firing between the police party and the gang.
The four members of the gang managed to escape from the scene.
A TT pistol, one magazine and five cartridges were recovered from the possession of the alleged gang leader.
There had been cases lodged against the alleged gang in a Hyderabad police station. The accused gang was also wanted on various charges to the Karachi police.
In another raid by ADRC, police arrested an accused named Muhammad Aslam, who was allegedly involved in mobile phone snatching at gunpoint.
Investigation is under way to get further information from the arrested persons.
