Raw sugar prices finished higher Friday on speculative and trade buying and the sweetener will be waiting for leads to provide inspiration for its next move, brokers said.
The New York Board of Trade's key March raw sugar contract climbed 0.11 cent to close at 11.37 cents a lb, ranging from 11.23 to 11.40 cents. May rose 0.09 to 11.36 cents. Back months added 0.04 to 0.06 cent.
"It's just been a dull affair. We're in consolidation and we'll need to see what comes out over the weekend before deciding which way to go," said a veteran floor dealer for a brokerage house.
