Sindh Home Department has decided to launch an inter-provincial operation to end street crimes. Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui while briefing newsmen on Saturday said that a team comprising police personnel from anti-dacoity and anti-violent crime cells has been established headed by SP Anti-Violent Crime Cell, Farooq Awan.
The team has been given the task to arrest those persons who flee to other provinces after committing street crimes in KARACHI, he said, adding that the team would carry out operations in other provinces with the help of police officials in respective provinces.
Rauf appealed to the people to lodge cases in the nearest police station in case of any street crimes. All police stations have been bound to record FIRs in this regard, he said, and added that any officials of any police stations who failed to register FIR of street crime would be taken to task.
He said that jewellers should not buy gold without checking its buying receipts, otherwise cases of buying stolen goods would be lodged against them.
To maintain strict security during Ramazan, Friday prayers and Taraveeh congregations are being closely guarded by security personnel, he said.
