NWFP governor Khalilur Rehman had a whirlwind tour of the earthquake-affected areas of Hazara on Saturday to assess losses and meet the affected people. Soon after receiving preliminary information about severe damages, the governor left Peshawar and visited affected areas.
He straightaway went to Abbottabad where he inspected two affected plazas, which have been badly damaged.
He also went to the Ayub Medical Complex where he enquired after the health of injured persons. Later on, he also landed at Mansehra, Battal and Baffa and met affected people. He also handed over cash relief for treatment of injured persons of the earthquake.
Meanwhile, the governor also had an aerial view of affected areas of Balakot in Mansehra district and Pattan in Kohistan district.
Talking to affected people, the governor said the government fully share their miseries in this hour of grief and every possible step is being taken to help them. In fact, he added, the entire government machinery has been mobilised and relief activities are in progress at every level. Besides some of the elected representatives, provincial chief secretary Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi and inspector general police Rifaat Pasha were also present at Abbottabad during the visit of the governor.
