The President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Khalid Firoz has called upon the business community in general and members of the chamber in particular to donate generously in the earthquake fund established by the chamber to provide relief to the victims of earthquake.
Talking to APP here on Saturday noon, he said he felt grieved over hearing the news about the loss of property and precious lives in the affected areas. Though the lives cannot be compensated but, he added, their sufferings can be mitigated by providing them timely relief and helping them to rehabilitate.
He said he had set up the relief fund and would be calling the meeting of the chamber to finalise the amount and goods that could be sent as relief at the earliest. He said that the trading community would not leave the victims of the earthquake alone and would supplement the government efforts for their early rehabilitation.
He said everybody is grieved over the natural calamity and the people should keep in mind that extending help during Ramazan is doubly good as it would not only help discharge their social and moral duties but also bring them blessings of Almighty Allah in the holy month as a bonus.
