The Alexandria Cotton Exporters' Association (Alcotexa) said on Monday it had committed to sell 5,596 tonnes of cotton in the week which ended on October 8. An Alcotexa official broke down the sales as 21 tonnes of Giza 70, 1,290 tonnes of Giza 88, 3,985 tonnes of Giza 86 and 300 tonnes of Giza 89.
These new commitments bring Alcotexa's export commitments for the season 2005/2006, which began in September, to 12,231 tonnes of cotton, the official said.
