President General Pervez Musharraf has appealed to expatriate Pakistani businessmen to come forward with generous contributions to the country's gigantic rescue and relief efforts in the wake of Saturday's massive earthquake.
He was speaking to UAE-based Pakistani entrepreneurs in a telephonic conversation, arranged by Roving Ambassador Ehsanullah.
The President said Allah Almighty has rewarded the businessmen and traders with wealth and they owe it to their country to donate generously for early relief and rehabilitation of the quake-afflicted people.
The government, he said was pooling all national resources to carry out the colossal task of relief, recovery and rehabilitation of the affected people.
The collected sums in the President's Relief Fund, he assured, would be spent transparently on the recovery of quake-afflicted people and accounted for.
"I am confident that Pakistanis living abroad and particularly the business people will assist their brethren in their hour of trial", he said.
The members of business community assured the President that they would respond to his call and come out with meaningful donations.
